-Hairspray
-Cirque Du Soleil: KA

On today’s show, we talk to pulitzer prize winning writer Margo Jefferson. After years of writing for such publications as The New York Times and The Village Voice (ya know, nothing big), Margo has written a her first book entitled On Michael Jackson. Some of you of course know that I am quite the fan of Mr. Jackson, so I was highly curious to see if this was going to be another “let’s trash Michael Jackson” book. Thankfully, it’s not. Margo takes Michael’s amazing and circus like career, and compares it to those of other circus-figures such as P.T. Barnum. The book also provides us with a chilling look at our own lives. Why are we so interested in Michael’s life, or that of any celebrity? Is Michael the freak, or are we?
Usually these type of books tend to steer me away from even opening it. In this case, however, Ms. Jefferson has not only brought up some very valid points about both our lives and Michael’s life, but she has done her research, and it shows. We speak to Ms. Jefferson today about why should write such a book, and what Michael Jackson means to her. You can pick up a copy of the book at your local bookstore, or click here to buy the book at Amazon.com.

MUSIC HEARD ON TODAY’S SHOW (with iTunes links if available):
